Had a bit more time to meet people and see the Beijing National Museum today. Had lunch with Paul Edelberg, he is on the China Committee and I met him in DC at the International Conference. Thanks for Lunch Paul. (I missed the camera shot of this one.) Russell Leu was his original invitee and I got invited along. Lunch was spicy and delicious.
The English printed paper here, The China Daily, had an interested front page story about how the chinese treasures and many artifacts were taken when the KMT went to Taiwan in 1949. The KMT brought with them when departing Mainland China. A famous scroll called the
Dwelling in the Fu-chun Mountains is being re-united in Taipei. Having now seen both museums, I have to agree with the articles author when he said:
It is commonly acknowledged that "the BeijingPalace Museum is the building and the chest, whereas the Taiwan Palace Museum holds all thetreasures".
I was a bit surprised by what was not at the Beijing Museum. It is evident that many of the Chinese national treasure artifacts are indeed in Taiwan.
For Dinner I went again with Russell Leu. He took me to a Western Chinese restuarant. Very good lamb, pork, and chili dishes. Not the kind of thing you would call Chinese in the states, much more like a middle eastern cultural place. Delicous!

I finished off the day at an Eagle Court of honor. Since I was meeting with Robert Lewis, another Attorney and his son had a part in the program. Bottom line - Troop 1921 is like any other scout troop in the world, except they get to take their 50 mile hike on the Great Wall!
